I soooo dislike the cold weather. Every year, I am in denial that maybe, just maybe, THIS year it just won’t get cold. Like just maybe, global warming will have a side benefit and make cold weather go away in all the places that polar bears don’t live.
Last week, we Marylanders had the opportunity to bask in 70+ degrees weather in December!!! It was sooo nice. People were barbeque- ing, I was out raking leaves, and the neighborhood Christmas party and caroling group got to sing in balmy weather. Sweet.
Last night and today, it abruptly became December here again. It’s like a slap to the face. Today was 40 degrees Fahrenheit and right now it is a ridiculous 27 degrees. Hello, Mr. Cold Weather! I just walked the dogs for their last walk for the day. The wind was blowing and I am cold to the bone…so I decided to whip up some Forbidden Hot Chocolate. It was amazingly tasty, easy and quick to make. Warmed me right up!
I just recently discovered Forbidden liqueur a few weeks ago when I was mesmerized by the sparkly red bottle. I decided I was going to try experimenting with more pretty bottles so I will have a selection from which my guests may choose. Since I barely ever drink, i already have a collection of sorts but not of pretty bottles just the staples, y’know like gin, vodka, rum, whiskey, etc.
Healthy? …well, I made it with soymilk but that’s not going to quite cut it for the health filter. So let’s just say that’s why it is called forbidden. Recipe below.
Forbidden Hot Chocolate
1.5 cups of Soymilk
4 rounded teaspoons of sugar (I used a cereal spoon not a baker’s measuring spoon)
2 rounded teaspoons of Hershey’s Unsweetened Cocoa
A Dollop of Whipped Cream
Dark Mocha Forbidden Liqueur
Pour first 3 ingredients into a saucepan. While heating over a low/medium flame, whisk the mixture to break up the balls of cocoa. Once heated, about 3 minutes, fill approximately 2/3 of your mug with the hot cocoa. Fill the other third or to taste with Forbidden Mocha liqueur. If you prefer more hot chocolate and less liqueur, then increase your milk to 2 cups instead of 1.5.
Hope you like it! Stay toasty!
